Hello, I'm Vitalija
Finding the right person to talk to can feel like a big step.
For me, counselling is built around the relationship between two people — creating a space where you can feel heard, respected and accepted for who you are.
I am a person-centred counsellor/coach and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer confidential counselling and coaching online and face-to-face.
My approach
My approach is person-centred.
I believe that every person is unique and that you are the expert in your own experience.
My role isn't to tell you what you should think, feel or do. Instead, I offer a warm, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening for you and make sense of things at your own pace.
I believe that feeling genuinely listened to can be powerful.
You don't have to arrive with the right words, a clear explanation or all the answers.
We can start wherever you are.
My interest in trauma and PTSD
Trauma is a particular focus of my counselling practice, especially in relation to veterans, serving military personnel and people who work in demanding or high-pressure environments, including emergency responders.
My undergraduate dissertation explored working with veterans experiencing PTSD. This developed my interest in understanding the longer-term impact that traumatic experiences can have on people's lives, relationships and sense of self.
I recognise that some experiences can be difficult to put into words, particularly when you have spent a long time being the person others rely on.
Counselling can provide a space where you don't have to be the strong one.
My experience of working with people
Alongside my counselling and coaching work, I have spent the past seven years helping to develop a national non-profit organisation, working as one of the people responsible for its development and growth.
During this time, I have also been involved in managing a community of around 100 volunteers, including responsibilities relating to HR.
This experience has taught me a great deal about people.
People come from different backgrounds, cultures, personalities and life experiences. They communicate differently, see situations differently and respond to pressure in different ways.
Bringing people together around a shared purpose can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be challenging.
I have seen first-hand how important it is to listen, communicate, be patient, understand different perspectives and support one another.
I have also seen how quickly frustration and misunderstanding can affect relationships when people feel unheard or misunderstood.
These experiences have strengthened my belief that healthy relationships — whether personal or professional — require more than good intentions.
They require curiosity, respect, communication and a willingness to understand someone else's perspective.
This experience is also one of the reasons I am interested in workplace wellbeing, communication and creating healthier organisational cultures.
Counselling, coaching and workplace wellbeing
My work now brings together three areas that I care deeply about: supporting individuals, helping people navigate change, and helping people work well together.
Counselling
Counselling can provide a space to explore emotional difficulties, past experiences, relationships, trauma, anxiety, low mood and other challenges affecting your wellbeing.
Coaching
Coaching is generally more future-focused and can support people with confidence, direction, goals, career decisions, identity and life transitions.
I have a particular interest in supporting people navigating significant changes, including transitions after military or emergency-service careers.
Workplace wellbeing
I also offer wellbeing workshops and talks for organisations.
These can explore areas such as mental health, stress, communication, managing frustration, supportive relationships, psychological safety and building a healthier workplace culture.
My aim is to bring together psychological understanding with the practical experience I have gained from working with a large and diverse volunteer organisation.
What you can expect from me
I will offer you:
A confidential and respectful space
A warm and non-judgemental approach
Genuine listening
Respect for your individual experiences
The freedom to explore things at your own pace
A collaborative relationship
Support without judgement or pressure
I won't pretend to have all the answers.
I believe that our work together is about creating the space for you to discover what is right for you.
You don't have to have it all figured out
You may know exactly what you want help with.
Or you may simply know that something isn't right.
You don't need a diagnosis.
You don't need to know what to say.
You don't need to have a plan.
You can simply start with a conversation.
Sometimes the first step isn't about finding all the answers.
It's about having somewhere safe to begin.
